Houston’s oldest commercial airport, William P. Hobby Airport is the closest airport to Galveston. Situated 40 miles from the island and is the main operating base for Southwest Airlines.  It has one terminal with 30 overall gates and became the first airport in Texas to have full biometric entry and exit for passengers who are traveling internationally.
