Fishing Pier

The 61st Street Fishing Pier in Galveston, Texas, is a destination that caters to the recreational fishing needs of both families and individual anglers. You are welcome to bring your own fishing rods and bait, rent equipment from the bait and tackle shop, or buy supplies there. In addition, there is a viewing deck available for customers who simply wish to watch the fisherman at work while taking in the scenery and activities around them. Snacks, soft drinks, beer, and margaritas are among the beverages that may be purchased here. To fish off of the 61st Street Fishing Pier, you will need to have a valid fishing license. A temporary license can be acquired from Texas Parks and Wildlife either in-store at Academy Sports or Wal-Mart or online at their website. After paying the admission fee, you will be given a wristband. Wristbands are valid from the time they are purchased until 6 a.m. the following morning.

From March till December, they are open around the clock. In the winter, business hours are subject to change depending on the weather (Dec, Jan, Feb)

A reminder that anyone remaining on the pier after 6 am will be subject to the full price of admission. In other words, if you intend to stay past six in the morning, you will be required to buy a new wristband at that time.
