After that, it was used as the campus for Heritage Christian academy, and later, it was converted into an elegant event venue. After Hurricane Ike, The Lasker was abandoned for a period of four years before being purchased by Richard and Linda Denson, who then undertook extensive renovations in order to bring the property back to its former splendor and beauty before opening it to the public as a bed and breakfast and event venue.
