Galveston Children’s
Museum
The Galveston Children’s Museum offers youngsters a one-of-a-kind, interactive setting in which they are encouraged to learn, investigate, create, and explore. The development of a child’s academic, social, and problem-solving skills are more important than ever before for the child’s future success throughout their lives. The conditions that are necessary for creating a better brain are now well understood, thanks to the advances that have been made in pediatric neuroscience. A child’s brain begins to develop with a small spark when they are infants, and it continues to grow through their experiences and direct engagement with their surroundings; in other words, through play. The mission of the Galveston Children’s Museum is to stoke that flame, to honor the one-of-a-kind qualities of each child, and to encourage them to be people who are playful, curious, creative, inspired, and inspiring. These are people who are able to think creatively and who are confident in their ability to face challenges and triumph over them.
Because the importance of play is the same for children of various developmental skills, backgrounds, and socio-economic statuses, children’s museums are an excellent way to level the playing field for young visitors. The Galveston Children’s Museum is dedicated to ensuring that its facilities are accessible to children of all backgrounds and will make every effort to ensure that its programming reaches youngsters living across the island. Where education is as easy as playing tag! For children aged two to ten years old, the Galveston Children’s Museum features a wide variety of entertaining and engaging programs and displays that encourage participation from visitors. The exhibits provide a wide variety of activities, including Kids Clinic, Building Zone, Tinker Workshop, and many others. In addition, we arrange entertaining activities and birthday celebrations for our guests. Fantastically fun and interactive little museum that’s all about games! Incredible, hands-on exhibitions tucked away in the lower level of a historic property. A fantastic pretend restaurant, candy shop, and boat to play with. While you finish playing, you can go to a different room that has drying racks and arts and crafts supplies. Toys like Legos, play sand, train tables, and other types of cars are also available for use as playthings. A stage with a puppet theater for you to perform on. Your creations can use the glow-in-the-dark room, the light tables, and the take-apart station. A play therapy session with either infants or other animals. Fantastic fan table, perfect for floating balloons or parachutes. A ball track made of wood, along with a track wall. Tables for sand, water, and huge foam blocks are available for play outside, depending on whether or not construction is taking place. Therefore, a wonderful area for children to burn off some energy, regardless of the weather. Unlike the Houston museum, there is no charge for parking, and visitors will not be overwhelmed with information.
Tickets cost $10 for ages 2 and up, $8 for seniors, $8 for military personnel, and $3 for those receiving SNAP or Medicaid assistance; however, entrance is free for members of the museum. Within the Moody Mansion in Galveston, you may find us on the first floor, ground level.
During the academic year, the Museum is CLOSED on Mondays and Tuesdays in order to accommodate school field trips and other special events. We would appreciate it if you could come see us on Wednesday through Sunday.
